Kumarganj College is a Co-educational institution located at kumarganj Block which is next to Kumarganj Police Station and Kumarganj High School, in the district of Dakshin Dinajpur. With the missionary zeal, untiring efforts, noble sacrifices and undaunted initiative of people of that locality in general, Kumarganj College was brought into existence as the temple of learning on the auspicious day of 5thMay, 2016; to cater to the long felt thirst for knowledge of the young rural aspirants. Affiliated to the University of Gour Banga, Kumarganj College is one of the rising degree colleges in the district of Dakshin Dinajpur. The campus area is about 20253 square feet while the main built up area is about 6200 square feet enriched with the potentiality for developing it into an ideal institution for higher studies.
The college was established in 2016. In such a remote area like Kumarganj, the academic journey of this institution started only with thirty seven students, seven guest lecturers in seven different departments. In the opening session (2016-17) there was only general course of studies comprises seven subjects. From the next academic session onwards the college has been offering honours course of studies in seven subjects ( Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Education) and from the session 2019-20 the college has been offering two more subjects ( Economics and Geography) in general course. The college has already introduced a well planned curriculum for Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in 2019 and thereafter New Education Policy (NEP) in 2023 under The University of Gour Banga. Thus, gradually the institution has been unfolding its potentialities.
Finally, I want to assure that the college administration, our experienced teachers and most supporting staffs are doing their best to give the students required edge to make their mark in this global world and to turn this institution into a centre of excellence.
